Building Futures 2024 Grade 10 My Son

I have deep roots in this community and a lifelong passion for education. My husband, who is Métis, and I have been married for 30 years. Together, we've raised five children—three of whom are proud Parkland School Division graduates, having all gone on to post-secondary education and successful careers. Our fourth child is set to graduate in 2025/26, and our youngest is currently in Grade 8. I’m also a proud grandmother of two, both of whom attend school in Parkland. In addition to being a co-owner of our family business, I actively serve the community.
As Vice President of both the Parkland Pregnancy Support Centre and Hope Beverley House Society, I’m committed to supporting women and children in crisis. I was honoured to receive the Rotary Integrity Award for my dedication to service.
With a background in business management and marketing, I’m known for my creativity, quick learning, and my ability to build meaningful, lasting connections.

Oh my gosh! Karen, I'm so proud of you! This takes immense courage, and I couldn't think of a better fit for this position. You bring an unbelievable amount of experience and heart to the table. You go, girl! ♥️
A Parkland Parent, Natasha
Karen exemplifies what it means to lead with compassion, commitment, and quiet strength. She has devoted countless hours as a board member and volunteer with the Parkland Pregnancy Support Centre, supporting expectant mothers and new families in the tri-region. As a co-founder of Hope Beverley House Society, Our region's new safe house for women and children experiencing domestic violence, Karen has played a vital role not only in creating a safe space, but also in ensuring residents are connected to the services they need to begin healing and rebuilding with them. In addition, over the past several years, She has faithfully delivered weekly food boxes through the community pantry, helping to ensure that families with children are not going hungry in our community. Integrity is about doing the right thing, even when no one is watching, and Karen lives this truth every day. She is always willing to lend a hand and often goes above and beyond in her service to others, exemplifying the values of Rotary service above self. Her compassion, dedication, and tireless work have made a lasting impact on her quiet leadership and continues to inspire all those that are around her, including us. We are honoured to celebrate Karen Carlton as this year's Integrity Award recipient.
Rotary Club of Spruce Grove
This woman! Incredible to see her running. I can't think of anyone better to protect our schools for our children of our communities, future!
A Parkland Parent, Vanessa Fales Vezina
I want to give a shout-out to my mother-in-law, Karen Carlton, who is presented with the integrity award from the Rotary club in Spruce Grove. My heart is truly happy for her to receive this because I don’t think people realize how many countless volunteer hours she pours in to the community simply because people need help. In the middle of holidays or family dinners, she’s left to go pick up food to take to families in need, accompanying women in court that are fleeing domestic violence and standing up for themselves for justice, Helping young mothers who are overwhelmed get their house in order, and her latest endeavour, helping set up a local house, Hope Beverley House Society, for families in crisis… The list goes on because it isn’t just something she does, it’s who she is. Helping those in need runs through every fibre in her body.
She’s now stepping up to serve on a new level, please go give her page a follow, and when it comes time to choosing a school trustee, I completely endorse her and everything she stands for, and recommend her for this position!
